1.World Food India 2017, New Delhi 

World Food India 2017 is a Global event that celebrates food industry in India. It was organised by Ministry of Food Processing industries Government of India with the aim to provide opportunities for both investment and trade for Indian and International companies in Food Processing Sectors.

World Food India 2017 held in partnership with confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Thetheme of World Food India 2017 is ‘Transforming the Food Economy’. This is the first time India is hosting the event for Food processing sector.

Significance of WFI:

2.An autumn Leaf butterfly spotted in Grizzled Squirrel Wildlife Sanctuary. 

An Autumn Leaf butterfly has spotted in Grizzled Squirrel wildlife Sanctuary in Virudhunagar district. An Autumn leaf butterfly which is normally found in Karnataka and Kerala.

Grizzled Squirrel Wildlife sanctuary is home to endangered Grizzled Squirrel, located in Virudhunagar district Tamil nadu.

3.Blackbuck conseravation reserve come up in Allahabad. 

India’s first Blackbuck conservation reserve to coming up over 126 hectares in the trans-Yamuna region of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.

There are few national park and sanctuaries like Velavadar Wildlife Sanctuary in Gujarat and Ranibennur Blackbuck Sanctuary in Karnataka is inhabited by blackbuck but there is no sanctuary dedicated exclusively to blackbuck. This could be the first in Country which is exclusively dedicated to blackbuck.

Uttar Pradesh government has declared the conservation reserve by evoking section 36 A (1) and (2) of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 in the Meja forest division.The Meja Forest division is known for its rocky, undulating and arid terrain.

 4.TN is third state to hit 1 million birds mark. 

Tamil Nadu become third state to have 1 million birds record . Kerala and Karnataka are the first 2 states to hit 1 million record.

Top 3 district of Tamil Nadu -  Coimbatore has 2,94,242,Kancheepuram  with 1,72,606 records and Chennai has 83,568 records.

5.Most ancient spiral galaxy discovered 

Scientist has discovered the most ancient spiral galaxy in the universe known as A1689B11 that existed 11 billion years ago. This will help to provide the insights of early cosmos.

6.Women’s Asia cup Hockey 2017

Indian women hockey team has won the 2017 Women’s Asia cup hockey beating China in shoot out 5-4. This is the 2^nd time India is winning the cup, earlier it was in 2004 beating Japan by 1-0.

7.MS subbulakshmi award 2017 

Shruti Shankar Kumar and Murali Sangeeth V is winner of 2017 MS subbulakshmi award.
