1.World Environment Day 2018.
  • India to host 2018’s World Environment day on June 5.
  • Beat Plastic pollution is the central theme of this year World Environment day celebrated on June 5. 

2.The Banks Board Bureau. 
  • The Banks Board Bureau (BBB) term is going to expire on March 31 2018.
  • Central Gvoernment is yet to communicate the extension of BBB tenure.
  • BBB was set in April 2016 under programme Indradhanush to reform Public sector banks
  • It was conceived by PJ Nayak committee.
  • Former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vinod Rai is current Chairman also he is the first Chairman of Banks Board Bureau. 

3.Wi-Fi in Government schools. 
  • Tamil Nadu School education Minister, K. A. Sengottaiyan, informed that there will be free Wi-Fi facility to be setup in 312 Government schools in the districts of Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvalluvar and Coimbatore.
  • For this Agreement has been signed with private service provider ACT Fibernet .
  • The facility will help students to access all information related to studies. 

4.Kota and Toda language. 
  • Kota and Toda language of Tamil Nadu is in the list of 42 languages heading towards extinction in India.
  • According the list prepared by UNESCO there are 42 languages in India are in endangered and heading towards extinction.
  • Andaman Nicobar has highest with 11 languages in endangered list, followed by 7 languages in Manipur , 4 from Himachal Pradesh.
  • The Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, is working towards protecting and preserving the endangered language in India.

5.World Conference on IT, Hyderabad 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the World Conference on Information Technology through video conference at Hyderabad. 

6.BAFTA film awards. 
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is the big winner at the 71st British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA)2018.

7.Qatar open Tennis Tournament. 
Petra Kvitova wins Qatar Open Tennis tournament beating Garbine Muguruza.

8.Christian Coleman
Christian Coleman breaks 60m indoor world record when he clocked 6.34 seconds at the US Indoor Championships in New Mexico.
