1.Chennai Corporation inks MoU with Brussels 
Chennai Corporation signed Memorandum of Understanding with City of Brussels to develop innovative civic aspects relating to smart city, urban planning, solid waste management and tackling Global Warming.

2.Oto Acoustic Emission 
  • Tamil Nadu has decided to set up 162 centres to eradicate hearing impairment on new-borns in the state using Oto Acoustic Emission .
  • Oto Acoustic Emission is used to find hearing impairment in new-born babies.

3.National Clean Air Programme. 
  • Union Environment Ministry released the details of National Clean Air Programme to tackle the increasing air pollution problem across India.
  • The Aim of the programme to reduce air pollution by 35% in 100 selected cities in another 3 years and 50% in next 5 years. 

4.India won 6 elections in UNECOSOC bodies. 
  • India has won 6 elections to committees of United Nation Economic and Social Council Bodies.
  • India got the highest number of votes with 46 followed by Pakistan 43,Bahrain 40 and China 39 to the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations.
  • The Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Committee is considered influential because it scrutinises the NGOs applying for consultative status and also has the right to block them.

5.Norwester hits West Bengal. 
  • Norwester hits West Bengal with the force of 98 Km and left 18 people dead. 
  • Norwester is also known as Kal Baisakhi is a local winds originate in chotanagpur plateau moves eastwards and strike West Bengal , Odisha and some part of Bangladesh.  

6.Chandrayaan-2 Postponed. 
  • Indian Space Research Organisation has said that Chandrayaan -2 launch has been postponed to last of 2018 due to requirement of more test.
  • Chandrayaan 2 will be the challenging mission, as it will carry first time an orbiter, a lander and a rover to the moon.
