• David R Syiemlieh - appointed as the new Chairman of UPSC.
• Supreme Court dismissed top BCCI officials
• Anurag Thakur - BCCI President and Ajay Shirke - Secretary were dismissed from the post citing the non implementaion of the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee.

• Agni IV Test Fired
• The 4000km range Agni IV Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) was test fired from the Abdul Kalam Island (Earlier wheeler Island).
• It is nuclear capable missile with payload of 1 tonne.
• One Leap Second Added to IST
• One leap second was added to the atomic clock in the National Physical Laboratory (New Delhi).
• The slowing down of earth's rotation causes a difference between the astronomical time and the atomic time.
• Hence, one leap second was added to the atomic clock.

World

• Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations
• India signed this agreement with Pakistan in 1988.
• Under this agreement both the countries should not conduct any surprise attack on each other's nuclear installations.
• Every year on Jan 1st both the countries exchange the list of their nuclear installations.
