Government has given its ex-post facto approval for Memorandum of Understanding signed between India and other BRICS nations for set up BRICS Agriculture Research Platform (BRICS ARP).
About BRICS ARP.
- BRICS ARP was proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during 7th BRICS Summit held at Ufa in Russia on 9th July 2015.
- Then the MoU on establishment of the Agricultural Research Platform was signed by the foreign Ministers of BRICS nations in 8th BRICS Summit held at Goa last year.
- The BRICS ARP will provide security to the BRICS Nation by promoting sustainable agricultural development and poverty alleviation through strategic cooperation in agriculture.
- It also addresses the issues like world hunger, under-nutrition, poverty and inequality, enhancing agricultural trade, bio-security, climate resilient and more.
