1.Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana: 
  • Union Government has singed revised Memorandum of Understanding with NABARD and National Water Development Agency (NWDA) for funding central share of 99 irrigation projects under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana through long term irrigation fund.
  • Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana scheme introduced in 2015 with the motto of “Har Khet ko Paani” .
  • The main objective of the scheme is to expand cultivated area with assured irrigation, reduce water wastage and improve the efficiency of water usage.
2.Suresh Prabhu to decide on RCEP talks 
Union Government has set up four member group headed by Union commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu to advice Prime Minister on whether to continue with or withdraw from Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP)

About RCEP:
  • RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement being negotiated between 10 ASEAN countries and and their Free Trade Agreement partners , Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand.
  • It the negotiation are successful, it would create the world’s largest trading  bloc.
  • The trade bloc represents world’s 46 % of population with combined GDP of around $17 trillion and accounts of 40% of world trade.
  • It will cover of issues such as trade in goods, services, investment, competition, intellectual property rights, telecommunication and economic and technical cooperation 

India’s benefit:
  • RCEP will help to achieve India’s aim and objective of look-East policy.
  • RCEP is important to India because India is not a member of 2 other major regional economic group APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic cooperation) and TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership).
  • RCEP will help India’s Trade volume to increase with countries, which India not signed FTA like China, New Zealand, and Australia.
  • Once the RCEP get negotiated it can easily access the entire 16 member’s trade bloc and India’s Service sector like IT, telecoms, BPO, KPO, Banking services are likely to get more benefits.
India’s Concern
Countries like China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand are export powerhouses in Manufactured goods.  Their Cheaper Goods could affect the small producers and workers if safeguard measures are not taken adequately.

The Main concern is flood of cheaper Chinese goods in Indian markets.Because at present there is no FTA between India and China but signing the RCEP pact is viewed as signing an FTA with China

About Free Trade agreement: 
Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is an agreement of cooperation between countries ( 2 or more) to reduce its trade barriers like tariffs etc. It helps to increase trade and services within countries without much obstacles.

3.Position of Organic Farming in India. 
Latest information provided by Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare , the current position of Organic farming in India is covered 23.02 Lakh hectares under the schemes Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY), Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) and National Programme  of Organic Production (NPOP).

4.Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve
  • Khangchendzong Biosphere Reserve becomes 11th Biosphere Reserve from India which is included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves
  • It was included in the 30th session of International Coordination Council (ICC) of Man and Biosphere programme of UNESCO held at Palembang, Indonesia.
  • Currently India has 18 Biosphere reserve including Khangchendzong, in this 11 biosphere reserve has included in World Network of Biosphere Reserve and  7 Biosphere Reserves are Domestic Biosphere Reserves.
  • Khangchendzong Biosphere Reserve is located in Sikkim.
5.Fall Army Worm.
  • Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) has found agricultural pest Fall army Worm in Karnataka.
  • Fall Army Worm is major threat to Maize, Rice, Sugarcane and this is the first finding in Asia.
6.Tokyo Olympics 2020 
Japan to introduce facial recognition technology to increase security during Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

1.Lok Sabha Passes National Commission for Backward Class 
Lok Sabha has passed Constitution (123rd Amendment) bill 2017 by providing constitutional status to National Commission for Backward classes.

2.GST Council – Cash back for Digitalisation. 
  • GST council has announced cash back of 20 Per Cent of the total GST Amount , subject to max limit of Rs 100 if customers making digital transaction.
  • GST Council is a constitutional body which aids and advice Union and State government relating to Goods and Services taxes.
  • GST Council Created as per Article 279A of the amended Constitution.

3.Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill 2018 
  • President Ram Nath Kovind given his assent for promulgate the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill 2018 which helps to prevent the economic offenders from evading the process of Indian law by staying outside the jurisdiction of Indian Courts.
  • The total value of 100 crore or more will come under the purview of this bill.
  • Article 111 of Indian Constitution deals with, when the bill passed in Parliament and can become an act only if it receive assent from President.

 Features of the Bill. 
  • The bill will force the fugitive to return to India to face the trial.
  • Confiscation of the property of offender in India, Abroad including benami property.
  • Fugitive economic offender cannot demand any civil claim.
  • Separate administrator will appoint to manage and dispose the confiscated property.•  
  • This bill will help to improve the financial health of the banking sector because non –payment of loan will worsen the financial health of the bank.

1.Ballistic Missile Interceptor AAD.

4.SAATHI Initiative 
  • Union Textile and Power Ministry joint hands under the initiative SAATHI (Sustainable and Accelerated Adoption of efficient textile technologies to help Small industries ) to adopt energy efficient textile technology in the power loom sector and minimise the cost.
  • The main objective of scheme is to procure energy efficient powerlooms, motors and rapier kit in bulk and provide at no upfront cost to the small and medium units.

Objective: 
  • The new scheme will implement jointly by EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Limited ) and the office of the Textile Commissioner on a pan-India basis.
  • The new initiative will help people in saving energy, cost saving also no upfront cost which they can repay in instalments to EESL.
  • EESL is already successfully implemented this type of scheme in several sectors like LED bulbs, Electric vehicle and more.
  • This scheme will help to upgrade the technology of powerloom sector in India because around 24.86 lakh powerloom units in India use obsolete technology.
  • Also almost 57 % of cloth produced from the unorganised micro and small units in India.
  • This scheme will help to upgrade the unorganised micro and small units, leading to higher productivity, better quality and more.

5.ISRO Devloping Green Propollent 
  • Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is in progress on making environment-friendly green propellant to power satellites and spacecraft.
  • It will help to replace the hydrazine rocket fuel which is highly toxic and hazardous chemical.

6.Mukhiyamantri Yuva Nestam
 Andhra Pradesh Launched Mukhiyamantri YUva Nestam an unemployment allowance scheme  providing Rs 1000 to unemployed youth per month.

  • Researcher from National Brain Research Center has identified the molecular and cellular mechanism by which Zika virus causes Microcephaly.

Rajasthan becomes the first state to implement National Policy Bio Policy which is introduced by Union Government.

About National Policy on Bio Fuels.
  • Union Cabinet has given its nod for new National Policy on Biofuels 2018 in May which allows surplus food grains production now can be used for producing Ethanol.
  • The policy has expanded the scope of raw material for producing ethanol allowing use of Sugarcane Juice, Sugar Beet, Sweet Sorghum, Corn, Cassava, damaged food grains like wheat, broken rice, Rotten Potatoes, unfit for human consumption.
  • Farmers are not getting the appropriate price for the Food Grains during surplus production.
  • Considering this, this policy allows use of surplus food grain for production of ethanol for blending with petrol with the approval of National Biofuel Coordination Committee.
  • It helps to improve the Farmers Income, Import Reduction, Employment Generation, Waste to Wealth Creation.

5.Insolvency and Bankruptcy code amendment bill. 
Lokh Sabha has passed Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Amendment Bill, which prevents unscrupulous persons from misusing the provisions of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

6.TESS 
NASA’s Planet hunting satellite called TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) begins its operation with aim to scan 85% of skies beyond the solar planets where the life may exist.

1.About Section 377 
  • According to Indian Penal code Section 377  which means whoever voluntarily has carnal inter-course against the order of nature with any women, man, animal shall be punished with imprisonment or fine.
  • It was introduced in 1862 by British Government and it is still exist.
  • Gender activist moved to Supreme Court against Section 377, because they feels that Section 377 is violating the Fundamental rights guaranteed to every individual in Indian Constitution like Article 14, 15 and 21.
  • Article 14 which provides equality before law  and equal protection of law to every individual.
  • Article 15 which ensure prohibition of discrimination on  basis of caste, gender, religion, race, sex or place of birth to every individual.
  • Article 21 which ensure the protection of  life and personal liberty. 


2.India’s First Internet Telephony Service.
  • Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) introduced India’s first Internet Telephone service through its mobile app “Wings”.
  • This facility will help its customer to make calls using the app Wings to any phone number in the country. 

3.Genetically modified crop area
  •  India’s Genetically Modified crop area has now become 5th largest in world.
  • India’s GM Crop is entirely on Cotton( incorporating genes from the Bacillus thuringiensis or Bt soil bacterium coding for resistance against heliothis bollworm insect pests).
  • US Tops the list followed by Brazil.

4.India now 69th Shareholder of EBRD. 
  • India has now formally inducted as 69th Shareholder of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development .
  • It helps Indian company to undertake Joint investments across the EBRD operates.

5.India becomes 6th largest economy 
  • India becomes 6th Largest economy in World in 2017 surpassing France .
  • US tops the list with GDP $19.39 trillion, followed by China with $12.23 trillion, Japan wth $4.87 trillion, Germany with $3.67 trillion, UK with $2.62 trillion and India in 6th position with $2.597 trillion.


6.Anna Canteens,
Andhra Pradesh Govenemnt has launched 100 Anna canteens acorss State to provide subsidised food for poor.

1.UNSC Resolution 2427. 
  • The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has adopted Resolution 2427 to protect children in Armed conflict by providing a legal framework for mainstreaming the rights, protection, wellbeing and empowerment of children.

  • It also condemns the recruitment and use of children by non-state armed forces and killing, raping and other form of sexual abuses.

3.Rajya Sabha Signed first MoU. 
  • Rajya Sabha has signed its first Memorandum of Understanding with foreign country, Rwanda for promoting inter parliamentary dialogue.
  • Venkaiah Naidu became the first Rajya Sabha Chairman to sign such an agreement with Foreign country. 

4.Global Innovation Index (GII) 2018 – India Ranks 57. 
  • India has ranked 57th in the latest Global Innovation Index 2018 Ranking.
  • Switzerland tops the list followed by Netherlands in 2nd and Sweden in the 3rd Position.

5.RS can use 22 languages. 
  • Members of Rajya Sabha can use 22 scheduled languages from the monsoon season of Parliament.
  • 8th schedule of Indian Constitution listed 22  official languages of India , they are mention in Article 344 and 351 of Constitution.

  • Tamil Nadu Government to bring Land Pooling scheme for projects which turns owners into partners in development.
  • According to the Section 39A of the land pooling area development scheme , it paves way for consolidating land for development of projects by making land owners as stakeholders in the scheme. 
  • It was decided because the acquisition of private lands becomes costlier after implemention of the land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013..

3.Institution of eminence Status.
  •  The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has granted Institution of Eminence to 6 educational Institution including Jio Institute-Reliance Foundation.
  • The other 5 institute are Indian Institute of Bombay, IIT Delhi, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, Birla Institute of Technology & Sciences (BITS) Pilani, Rajasthan and Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, Karnataka. 

4.ADB approval for lining project in Son canal.
  • Asian development Bank has given its approval for revival of lining project in Son Canal Shahabad-Bhojpur region of Bihar.
  • The project will help immense benefit for the agriculture in this region.
  • Lining Project means to add impermeable layer to edges of the trench to reduce the seepage loss of water in canal. 

5.SAATHI. 
The Central Reserve Police Force has launched the mobile app SAATHI to reach out to the people undertaking annual pilgrimage to Amarnath.

6.India Tourism Mart. 
First India Tourism Mart to be held in New Delhi from September 16th to 18 with the aim to create a global tourism mart for India on lines of major International travel mart held across the world.

Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly finally passed the Tamil Nadu Lokayukta act 2018l through voice vote.

The Act would look into graft charges against government Servants including current and former elected representatives (including Chief Ministers and Cabinet Ministers).

Features of Act: 
  • Lokayukta consists of Chairperson and four members.
  • Chairperson would be current or former  judge of High Court or person with 25 years of experience in any field in anti-corruption policy, public administration, vigilance, finance and law.

1.ISRO’s crew escape module.
  • Indian Space Research Organisation tested its first Crew escape system at Sriharikota, as a part of India’s preparation to send an Indian Astronaut to the space with indigenously developed rocket in Future.
  • The system is an emergency escape measure designed to pull the crew members to the safest place during a launch abort
  • ISRO Said that  - “The Pad Abort Test demonstrated the safe recovery of the crew module in case of any exigency at the launch pad,”

1.5th RCEP intersessional Ministerial meeting . 
5th Regional Comprehensive Economomic Partnership (RCEP) intersessional Ministerial Meeting held in Tokya, Japan.

About RCEP: 
  • RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement being negotiated between 10 ASEAN countries and their Free Trade Agreement partners, Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand.
  • If the negotiation is successful, it would create the world’s largest trading bloc.
  • The trade bloc represents world’s 46 % of population with combined GDP of around $17 trillion and accounts of 40% of world trade.
  • It will cover of issues such as trade in goods, services, investment, competition, intellectual property rights, telecommunication and economic and technical cooperation 

India’s benefit from RCEP:
  • RCEP will help to achieve India’s aim and objective of look-East policy.
  • RCEP is important to India because India is not a member of 2 other major regional economic group APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic cooperation) and TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership).
  • RCEP will help India’s Trade volume to increase with countries, which India not signed FTA like China, New Zealand, and Australia.
  • Once the RCEP get negotiated it can easily access the entire 16 member’s trade bloc and India’s Service sector like IT, telecoms, BPO, KPO, Banking services are likely to get more benefits.


2.Tariff concession to APTA members 
  • India agreed to provide tariff concession on 3,142 products for Asia Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) members.
  • APTA is a trade expansion initiative under the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) started in 1975 through exchange of tariff concessions among developing country members of the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Members of APTA are Bangladesh, China, India, Mongolia, South Korea, Laos, Sri Lanka.
  • APTA was previously known as Bangkok Agreement. 
3.Genome Valley 2.0, 
  • Telangana government has signed agreement with Singapore firm for Genome Valley 2.0.
  • Genome valley is High technology business district located in Hyderabad, Telangana. 

4.MOVE : Global Mobility Summit. 
NITI Ayog to organise “MOVE : Global Mobility Summit” with aim for Vehicle electrification, integrating renewable energy and job opportunity and also speeds up India’s transition to Clean energy economy.
