The Registration of Births and Deaths is made compulsory throughout the State as per the Registration of Birth and Death Act 1969 (Central Act 18/1969) and Tamil Nadu Birth and Death Registration Rules 2000 issued in G.O.Ms.No.528, Health and Family Welfare Department, dated 29.12.1999.
