Union Government has launched the new rural financial inclusion project called DARPAN (Digital Advancement of Rural Post Office for A New India) with the aim to improve the financial inclusion of unbanked rural population.

The DARPAN IT (Information Technology) modernization project helps to improve the services given by Post offices to rural people across the country.

About Project DARPAN: 

• The project DARPAN aim to provide financial inclusion of unbanked rural population.
• Till now 43,171 branch post offices have migrated under DARPAN Project and aiming to complete the project by 2018.
• The Project will offer core banking services like cash deposit in savings bank (SB) and recurring deposit (RD), withdrawal, new account opening Aadhaar seeding and  more.
• The project will help to increase the rural reach of the department of post.
