BrahMos supersonic cruise missile

• India Successfully test Fired BrahMos Supersonic cruise Missile with the aim to increase its life from 10 to 15 years.
• It was test fired from mobile launcher from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur , Odisha.
• This is the first Missile in India to extend its life from 10 to 15 years.

About BrahMos: 

• Brhamos is jointly developed between India’s DRDO and Russia’s NPOM.
• It was Named after River Brahmaputra (Brah) in India and Moskova(Mos) river in Russia
• It is 2 stage missile, first stage fitted with Solid Propellant booster engine and the 2^nd is fitted with Ramjet Liquid propellant.
• First stage will gives the supersonic fast and get separated and then 2^nd stage will take missile closer with 3 Mach speed.
• BrahMos can travel thrice the speed of sound  with the target range of 290 km and can be extended upto 400 km.
• It is world’s fastest Super Sonic Missile.
