1.Athikadavu - Avinashi project
  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami said that TN government will implement Athikadavu - Avinashi project by its own, if there is no support from Centre. 
  • Athikadavu - Avinashi project aims to recharge ground water level also to solve drinking water issue by channeling the surplus water from Pilloor Dam (Athikadavu) during monsoon season to all the dry regions of Coimbatore, Erode mainly in Avinashi and Perundurai.

Fact:
Kundah hydro-electric power house is located in Pilloor Dam.


2.ISRO’s Green Propellant 
  • Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is in progress on making environment-friendly green propellant to power satellites and spacecraft.
  • It will help to replace the hydrazine rocket fuel which is highly toxic and hazardous chemical.

3.Doppler radars 
  • Indian Meteorological department is planning to deploy 30 Doppler radars across India .
  • Doppler radars help to predict information about thunderstorms, dust storms, hailstorms, snowfall, rainfall, wind patterns and other weather related information.                                                                                                      

4.Artefacts excavated Keezhadi
  • Tamil Nadu Archaeological department has excavated 1200 more artefacts from Keezhadi.
  • Keezhadi site is located in banks of Vaigai River in Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu. 

5.Azhangakulam artefacts. 
  • Tamil Nadu Archaelological Department has sent artefacts found in Azhangakulam for Carbon Dating to find out the age of the artefacts.
  • Azhangakulam is located in Ramanathapuram District, Tamil Nadu.


6.UNDP’s skill development centre 
United Nations Development Programme to set up skill development centre at “Bharosa” an integrated support centre for distressed women and children in Hyderabad.

7.2018 BIMSTEC summit.

Nepal will host the 2018 BIMSTEC Summit.
