1.Indian Scientist decipher how Zika virus cause Microcephaly
  • Researcher from National Brain Research Center has identified the molecular and cellular mechanism by which Zika virus causes Microcephaly.
  • Zika Virus which spreads through mosquitoes and causes Microcephaly
  • Infected Babies are born with smaller head size than normal compared with normal babies.
  • Researchers found that Envelope(E) Protein of the Zika Virus is responsible ,which reduces the pool of the brain cells in the Foetus that results baby born with smaller head size or Microcephaly compared with normal babies.
  • Zika Virus caused by bite of the Aedes Aegyptii mosquito. 

2.The Walled City of Jaipur,
  • The Walled City of Jaipur , Rajasthan is India’s next proposal for UNESCO’s World Heritage site.
  • There are 37 World Heritage site in India.
  • Monuments of Mahabalipuram, Great Living Chola Temples at Thanjavur, Gangaikondacholapuram and Darasuram, Mountain railways of Nilgiri, Western Ghats are UNESCO’s recognised sites in Tamil Nadu.

3.Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janashadhi Pariyojana.
Pharmaceuticals department is implementing Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janashadhi Pariyojana scheme under which quality medicine are available at affordable prices to all through PMBJP kendras (Outlets).

4.National Policy on Bio Fuels.
Rajasthan becomes the first state to implement National Policy Bio Policy which is introduced by Union Government.

About National Policy on Bio Fuels.
  • Union Cabinet has given its nod for new National Policy on Biofuels 2018 in May which allows surplus food grains production now can be used for producing Ethanol.
  • The policy has expanded the scope of raw material for producing ethanol allowing use of Sugarcane Juice, Sugar Beet, Sweet Sorghum, Corn, Cassava, damaged food grains like wheat, broken rice, Rotten Potatoes, unfit for human consumption.
  • Farmers are not getting the appropriate price for the Food Grains during surplus production.
  • Considering this, this policy allows use of surplus food grain for production of ethanol for blending with petrol with the approval of National Biofuel Coordination Committee.
  • It helps to improve the Farmers Income, Import Reduction, Employment Generation, Waste to Wealth Creation.

5.Insolvency and Bankruptcy code amendment bill. 
Lokh Sabha has passed Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code Amendment Bill, which prevents unscrupulous persons from misusing the provisions of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.

6.TESS 
NASA’s Planet hunting satellite called TESS (Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite) begins its operation with aim to scan 85% of skies beyond the solar planets where the life may exist.
