Oxytocin Banned.

  • Central Government has banned the import of Oxytocin to stop misuse of livestock industry.
  • It is banned due to misuse of Oxytocin by some dairy owners and farmers to improve milk production and increase the size of vegetables, also in some overcrowded hospitals it is used for speed up deliveries for pregnant women. 
What is Oxytocin?

  • Oxytocin is segregated by Pituitary Gland.
  • It is a hormonal injection used widely in dairy, agriculture and horticulture areas for increase the production.
  • It is also used for uterine contraction and augmentation of labour in women during delivery, also helps to prevent post-delivery bleeding.
