3.HARIMAU SHAKTI 2018: 
  • In order to build military ties with ASEAN Countries, India-Malaysia joint training exercise to be held in Malaysia called HARIMAU SHAKTI 2018 from April 30 to May 13.

  • The 5 super critical Thermal Power projects are North Chennai TPP with capacity of 800 MW, Ennore SEZ TPP with 1,320 MW, Ennore Expansion TPP with 660 MW, Uppur TPP in Ramanathapuram district with 6000 MW , Udangudi TPP in Thoothukudi district with 1,320 MW Capacity.
  • Other power projects are Kadaladi Solar power project in Ramanathapuram district with 500 MW and Kundah Pumped storage hydroelectric project in Nilagiri district with 500 MW capacity .
  • These projects are expected to complete before 2021 .

About AFSPA:
  • Armed Force Special Power act was enacted in 1958 which give special powers to Indian armed force to bring control of “Disturbed area” declared by Indian government.
  • It gives the forces to shoot to kill, search houses, destroy any property likely to be used by rebels. It also gives power to arrest without warrant.
  • Parts of Assam, Manipur, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagaland are under AFSPA.
  • Governor can send notification to union government regarding the imposition of AFSAP in particular area. Center then declared particular area as disturbed region for minimum three months.

Features of the Bill. 
  • The bill will force the fugitive to return to India to face the trial.

  • Separate administrator will appoint to manage and dispose the confiscated property.

  • Article 124 (4) of constitution deals with procedure of removal of Judges of Supreme Court including CJI 

Procedure of Removal of Judges:
  • The grounds of Removal of judges will be proved misbehaviour or incapacity.
  • A removal motion should signed by 100 member of  lok Sabha or 50 members of  Rajya Sabha.
  • It should be given to Speaker / Chairman and they may reject or admit.
  • If it is admitted then Speaker/Chairman has to constitute the three member committee to investigate the charges.
  • Committee should comprise of Chief justice or Supreme court Judge, Chief justice of high Court and distinguished jurist.
  • If the committee finds the judge is guilty then the impeachment motion has to pass in both houses.
  • It should be passed by Special majority in each house of parliament.
  • Once it is passed by both houses then it will send to president, then he will passes an order of impeachment of Judge. 

Till now no judge of the Supreme Court has been impeached.

Justice V Ramaswami is the only judge faced impeachment, the enquiry committee found guilty but impeachment motion was defeated in Lok Sabha.

About UNSC Resolution 1540. 
  • In 2004 United Nation Security Council has voted to adopt Resolution 1540, with aim to prevent the non-state actors that attempt to develop, acquire, manufacture nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons, their means of delivery, and related materials.
  • Therefore states should implement appropriate and effective measures to prevent non-state actors such as terrorists, from obtaining access to weapons of mass destruction .

About Wiesbaden Process

1.Meghalaya Community - Led Landscapes Management Project (MCLLMP) 
  • India signed $48 Million loan agreement for Meghalaya Community - Led Landscapes Management Project (MCLLMP) with World Bank.
  • The main objective of the agreement is to strengthen community-led landscapes management in selected landscapes in Meghalaya. 

2.Gram Swaraj Abhiyan launched. 
  • Gram Swaraj Abhiyan has been launched on April 14 with the aim to inclusion of people of backward villages of the country to get benefit in government welfare scheme.
  • These are the seven scheme covers under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan - Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya, Ujala scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Mission Indradhanush. 

3.First regional conference of eastern states on Water Resources 
  • The First regionalConference of eastern states on water resources held in Kolkata to address the outstanding water issues of the states.     
  • The aim of conference is to mitigate intra and intra-basin issues relating to water resources in West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha 

4.Seed Bank project in Kancheepuram. 
  • A Seed Bank project to preserve traditional paddy varieties launched in Kancheepuram.
  • The project was initiated by Bioversity International and implemented by the Green Cause Foundation,Tamil Nadu. 

5.World Haemophilia day – April 17 
  • World Haemophilia Day has been observed worldwide to increase awareness of haemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorder.
  • Haemophilia is a genetic disease where the body’s ability to make blood clots disorder.
  • The theme of 2018  World Haemophilia Day is ‘Sharing Knowledge Makes Us Stronger’. 

6.Monsoon be normal 
Indian Meteorological Department predicts that the country is likely to see normal Monsoon this year.

7.Babur cruise missile. 
Pakistan successfully test fired enhanced version of Babur Cruise Missile which can deliver conventional and non-conventional weapon with a range of 700 KM.
