1.Union Government to amend Factories act of 1948. 
Union Government is planning to amend the Factories Act of 1948, to enhance the threshold limit over coverage under the Act.

Currently if the firm has 10 or more workers and using the aid of power or the firm with 20 or more workers without the aid of power will covers under Factories act. If the threshold limit is increased then there will be more than 70% of firms will out of coverage under factories act, which make workers will comes under mercy of employers.

2.Tamil Nadu’s 3 state highway to upgrade as National highway 
Three Tamil Nadu state highways SH20,157 and 18 is going to upgrade as national highways as NH544H( Thoppur –Mettur-Bhavani to Erode), NH136(Athur – Perambalur) and 179A (Tiruppathur – Vaniyambadi) respectively.

3.Indian Army to get six Apache AH-64E multi-role attack helicopters. 
Indian Army to get six Apache AH-64E Multi Role attack helicopters from US with worth of $4,170 crore.


4.Mexican Scientist found Ancient species of giant sloth . 
Mexican Scientist found fossilized remains of previously unknown species of giant sloth that lived 10,000 years ago. Scientist named it as Xibalbaonyx oviceps. 

5.Lakshaya won Eurasia Bulgarian Open men’s singles title. 
Lakshaya Sen won the Eurasia Bulgaria Open men’s singles badminton title beating Croatia’s Zvonimir Dukinjak.

6. World Honey Bee Day 
Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) is celebrate World Honey Bee Day on August 19. Celebration is to create awareness about the beekeeping and uses of its products. 

World honey bee day is celebrated in third week of August.

7.From September 1- E-toll lane on all national highways 
Road transport and highways ministry said that from September 1 there will be at least one exclusively dedicated for  FASTag vehicles where no other mode of payment accepted.
