Tamil Nadu State Government has
declared 23,000 hectares of Ambasamudram Taluk of Tirunelveli which includes Manjolai
Estate as Reserve Forest with effect on and from September 2018.
It was declared based on the power
conferred under the section 16 of Tamil Nadu Forest Act 1882 by Governor. The declaration
aimed to restore the original forest and also to give better place for tiger breeding
which is the core Tiger Habitat.
