1.Prime minister to attend Annual Meeting of World Economic Forum. 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend Annual Meeting of World Economic Forum to be held from 23- 26 January at Davos, Switzerland with the theme of 'Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World”.

World Economic Forum formed in 1971 with the theme committed to improving the state of the world, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.

2.Execution by Hanging most viable tells centre. 
Central Government has said to Supreme Court that Hanging is the viable method for executing death row convicts, lethal injection doesn’t work properly and often fails.

Supreme Court has earlier asked the central government f or less painful method for executing death sentence.

Currently 103 countries in the world don’t have capital punishment. Countries like China, US, Vietnam, Maldives, Taiwan, Thailand use Lethal injection for death sentence. Some countries like Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Nigeria, Mauritania, Sudan use Stoning for death sentence and in Extreme Saudi Arabia use Beheading.


3.PM Inaugurated first PIO parliamentarian conference 
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated first Person of Indian Origin (PIO) Parliamentary conference at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi.
  • This is the first conference which is set to reaching out to the indian community living in overseas by Government.
  • PRavasi Bharatiya Diwas celebrated every year on January 9 to marks the contribution of overseas person of Indian Origin to India.
  • January 9 was chosen because to honour the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai January 9 1915. 

4.India UK will sign illegal migrants pact. 
India and United Kingdom will sign a illegal migrants pact, which makes return of illegal Indian migrants within a month of detecting. 

5.Goa bird festival to be held from Jan 12 to 14 
2nd Edition of Goa Bird Festival to be held from January 12 to 14 2018 Categoan Wildlife Sanctuary, Canacona, in South Goa

Bor Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra: 
It was in news recently due to the death of tiger named Bajirao, on a highway laid in Reserve forest in accident.
