1.India State of Forest Report 2017 

• India’ forest cover has been increased by 1%  according to the state of forest report 2017.
• Andhra Pradesh has maximum increase with 2141 sq.km and MAdhya PRadesh has largest Forest Cover with 77,414 sq km
• Mangrove forest increased by 181Sq.Km, Maharashtra has maximum increase by 82 sq.km followed by Andhra Pradesh  by 37 sq kms and Gujarat with 33 sq kms.
• It is the 15^th biennial forest cover assessment released by Forest Survey of India which is initiated in 1987.

Key Findings:

2.The National Productivity Day Feb 12. 

• National Productivity day observed on February 12 across country  and National Productivity week will be observed till 18^th February.
• The theme of National productivity week is Industry 4.0 Leapfrog Opportunity for India.              
• It will be the 60^th Anniversary of National Productivity council and will be celebrated as Diamond Jubilee year.

3.Duqm Port. 

• India gets Access to Duqm port of Oman for Military use and logical Support.
• This is part of India’s Maritime strategy to counter Chinese influence.

4.Chandrashekhar Kambar 

Chandra Shekhar Kambar has been elected as President of Sahitya Akademi..

5.Star 2.0 

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami  has released portal called STAR 2.0 (Simplified and Transparent Administration of Registration) to ease property registration.

6.TN  2^nd Global Investors Meet 

Tamil Nadu Government has announced 2^nd Global Investors meet to be held in January 2018.

First Global Investors meet held in September 2015 in Chennai.
