• Union Government to allocate Rs 6,000 crore under PMKSY for the period of 2016-2020 (14^th Financial cycle).
•  It is expected to benefit 20 Lakh farmers and generate over 5lakh direct and indirect jobs during 209-20.
•  PMKSY is formerly known as SAMPADA (Sector scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and development of Agro-Processing clusters).
• This scheme aims to increase agriculture, modernize processing and reduce Agriculture waste. 

Important schemes implemented under Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana .

• Creating Mega Food Parks in various states (Completed 10 and ongoing 32)
• Creating Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure  (Completed 114 and Ongoing 124)
• Creation / Expansion of Food Processing & Preservation Capacities
• Infrastructure for Agro-processing Clusters
• Creation of Backward and Forward Linkages
• Creating Food Safety and Quality Assurance Infrastructure
• Creating Human Resources and Institutions 

Benefits of PMKSY:

• The scheme will modernise infrastructure with efficient supply chain management.
• It will help to increase the growth of food processing in Country, better prices, double the income of farmers and creating employment opportunities.
• It also helps to decrease the agriculture waste , increasing the processing level, safe and convenient processed food with affordable rate to the consumer and also export of processed food.
