1.TN bill to remove Bamboo from list of tree. 
  • Tamil Nadu State Government has introduced the bill to remove Bamboo from list of tree in Tamil Nadu Forest Act 1882.
  • As per the bill it will exempts bamboo grown in non-forest areas from the definition of a tree, therefore provides requirement of felling and transit permit.
  • Bamboo taxonomically grass, but legally defined as Tree in Indian forest Act 1927, because of this Farmers could not cultivate Bamboo in Non-forest Areas.
  • The bill will encourage the farmers to cultivate Bamboo in Non forest areas and which enhance their income. 

2.First BIMSTEC Military exercise. 
  • India to host first BIMSTEC military exercise in September 2018 .
  • The aim of Exercise is to promote strategic alignment and to share best practices to combat terrorism among member countries.
  • BIMSTEC is a Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation(BIMSTEC) , is a home 22 % of global population .
  • It comprising of 7 countries including Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka from South Asia and Myanmar and Thailand from South East Asia.
  • It was established in 1997 ,, headquarters is at Dhaka, Bangladesh and the Chairmanship will be in  rotational basis based on alphabetical order

 3.Nepal-Bharat Maitri Irrigation Project 
  • India has handed over a cheque of 99.2 Million Nepali rupees for Nepal-Bharat Maitri Irrigation Project for installation of 2700 Shallow tube well irrigation system.
  • The project which covers 12 districts of Nepal and will ensure all season irrigation facility to about 8000 hectares of farm land.
  • It will enhance the agricultural productivity of Nepal. 

4.EPIC Planet.
  • Indian Scientist from Physical Research Laboratory Ahmedabad has found the new planet that is named as EPIC.
  • It is bigger than Earth and revolving around the sun like star about 600 light years away.

5.World day against child labour - June 12 
  • World Day against Child Labour has been observed on June 12 every year with the focus to take effort and action  to eliminate Child Labour.
  • It is launched by  International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002.
