About North East Monsoon (October to November)
  • North East monsoon is also known as Post-Monsoon Season" or "Retreating southwest Monsoon Season".
  • Around September South west monsoon begins to retreat from Northern India due to sun moving towards Tropic of Cancer.
  • Due to the shift of Sun to tropic of cancer, land mass of the India loss its heat also fall in temperature which creates high pressure develops.
  • But in seas it still holds a warm condition which causes the low pressure develops in the Bay of Bengal.
  • So dry cold air from land (from Himalayas, Gangetic plain )starts travel towards hot air in sea (because air travels from high pressure to low pressure).
  • Therefore air travels from land to sea doesn’t get much rain due to its dry nature.
  • But when it reaches the sea (Bay of Bengal) it absorbs some moisture and gives heavy rain to Coromandal coast includes, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh.
