1.75^th Anniversary of Rice Research station . 

Rice Research Station in Tiruvalluvar district celebrated the 75^th Anniversary which is credited for introducing TKM 6, TKM 9 and TKM 13.

The TKM 6 is honoured by International Rice Research Institute , Manila by installing monument for elite donor in pest and diseases resistant programme .While TKM 9 popularly known as Red Rice which is widely used in Kerala.

2.Scientist discovered 2 New ants species from the Andaman. 

Scientist from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bengaluru and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University, Japan has discovered 2 new Ants Species of the genus Tetramorium (Tetramorium krishnani and Tetramorium jarawa) in Andaman.

3.Double whirlpool found in Tasman Sea. 

Scientist has found first time double Whirlpool which is spinning across Tasman Sea.

4.Veda nilayam to be Jaya’s memorial .

 State Government has said that Veda Nilayam which is the residence of Former Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha is all set to become a memorial in another 4 months.

5.Anand wins Bronze in Blitz Chess Championship. 

Anand wins bronze in blitz chess championship at Riyadh and  Norway’Magnus Carlsen win the gold and Russia’s Sergey Kajakin wins silver
