1.Plastic Free Tamil Nadu from 2019
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced that Tamil Nadu will ban usage of Plastic from January 2019.

2.Three institute gets Green award 
  • Tamil Nadu Government has given Green Award 2017 to The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy, Vellore Institute of Technology and Gandhigram Rural University for efforts taken to conserve energy and protect the Green Cover.
  • Green Award was given by Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board to recognise the effort to conserve and  protect the natural resources and sustainable development. 

3.IRCTC’s Bagasse based Food Packaging. 
  • Indian Railways launched environment friendly bagasse based food packaging on 8 select Shatabdis and Rajdhanis trains on part of World Environment day 2018 Celebration.
  • Bagasse is fibrous matter remaining after the extraction of juice from Sugarcane or related plant.

4.India’s Plastic usage. 
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said in World Environment day that India’s Per capita usage of Plastic is lower than that of many developed countries.
  • He also said even though India’s contribution to pollution is less, it will committed to reduce the usage of plastic and will join the Clean Seas programme initiated by Sweden.
  • India is the global host of 43rd edition of World Environment Day 2018, with the theme of “Beat Plastic Polution”.

5.Youngest Indian Author 
The 4 year old Ayan Gogoi Gohain from Assam becomes the youngest author of India after launching his book of ancedotes.
