  • Launched on June 28, 2017.
  • Launched from french guiana.
  • Weight: 3477 kg
  • Operational Life: 15 years
  • The previous communication satellites launched by India are
    • 1st -  GSAT-9 or South Asia Satellite on May 5, 2017.
    • 2nd - GSAT-19 on June 5, 2017.

  • It is a communication satellite also known as South Asia Satellite.
  • It was successfully launched by GSLV F09 launch Vechicle on May 5, 2017 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota of Andhra Pradesh.
  • It has 12 Ku band telecommunication satellite which benefits the SAARC nations except the Pakistan.
  • The Partners Include
    • Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka
    • Of the 8 Members of the SAARC Nations Only Pakistan did not participate in this programme.
