1.Scientist detected fourth Gravitational Waves. 
Scientist has detected another set of gravitational waves which is ripples in the fabric of space  and time. This is the fourth time such Gravitational waves have been detected. It was observed by Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave observatory (LIGO)  which is located at Hanford site, US. Jointly with Virgo observatory from Europe located at Italy.



2.India signs agreement to train Afghan Police . 
India and Afghanistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to train Afghan Police forces in India. This is the first time India going to train the Afghan Police force which also help to boost the bilateral relationship.

3.2015-16 Best Airports National Tourism Awards. 
Srinagar International Airport, Jammu & Kashmir and Swami Vivekananda Airport, Raipur, Chhattisgarh have been jointly awarded the National Tourism Awards for 2015-16

4.Yudh Abhyas – 2017 closing cermany. 
The 13th Edition of INDO-US joint exercise Yudh Abhyas-2017  has been concluded on 27th September at Joint Base Lewis McChord , Washington USA.
It is one of the largest joint running military training and defence cooperation between both countries.
  
5.190th Gunners Day Celebrated at Hyderabad.
The Indian Army’s Regiment of Artillery has celebrated its 190th Gunners Day on 28th September. Gunners day is also known as Raising Day. It was celebrated to mark the raising of the first Indian Artillery unit the then 5 Bombay Mountain Battery on 28th September 1827.

 6.3rd Edition of India International Science Festival 2017: ‘Science for New India’
The 3rd edition of India International Science Festival 2017 to be held in Chennai from October 13-16. IISF was celebrated since 2015 to encourage scientific temper among the people and showcasing India’s contribution towards Science and Technology.
  
7.India registers decline in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) 
India has registers significant decline in Infant Mortality Rate by 3 points from 37 per 1000 live birts in 2015 to 34 per 1000 live births in 2016. 

8.EESL to procure 10,000 Electric Vehicles 

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under Ministry of Power will procure 10,000 electric vehicles from Tata Motors Limited. This could be the world’s largest single electric vehicle procurement.

About Gravitational Wave:
  • It’s a ripple occurs in the fabric of space-time when two large masses(examples-black holes which has Mass more than 25 times of Sun) orbiting each other.
  • In simple term, if things move it creates waves like boat moves in river creates waves, same thing if two masses move in space-time creates waves which is called Gravitational waves.
  • The First Gravitational wave was detected on 14th September 2015, second was in Dec 26.2015 and third detection was on January 4,2017.

1.Tamil Nadu Government signed MoU for Solar Power. 
Tamil Nadu Government has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with four Companies to setup solar power plants and also signing MoUs with 12 companies with the aim of procuring 1,500 MWe of solar power.

Currently state has the capacity of 1,747 MWe solar power and it will increase to 700 MWe by end of this year. This will help to achieve State Government effort to achieve the target of 5,000 MWe of solar power by 2021. 

2.Fiji, Niger and Tuvalu Joins International Solar Alliance 
Fiji, Niger and Tuvalu have formally joined the International Solar Alliance. These 3 countries have deposited instrument of ratification of the Framework agreement of the International Solar Alliance during the 5th meeting International Steering Committee of the ISA held at New Delhi.

121 prospective member countries have participated in meeting, who either fully or partially lay between Tropic of Capricorn and Tropic of Cancer

3.Indian Navy Commissions INS Tarasa. 
INS Tarasa , Water Jet Fast Attack Craft has been commissioned into the Indian Navy at western Naval command at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
It is the last of the fourth water jet fast attack craft , first 2 ships are INS Tarmugli and Tihayu are based at Vishakhapatnam and third ship INS Tillanchang based at Karwar.

5.Kandla Port in Gujarat renamed as Deendayal Port.
Kandla Port located in Gulf of Kutchin Gujarat has been renamed as Deendayal Port Trust.

6.Lost city founded by Alexander  found in Iraq. 

The Lost city founded by Alexander the Great has been found in Iraq by Archaeologists. It is believed to have been founded in 331 BC.

  • In simple, t is an association of countries with the aim to increase the production of Solar Energy.
  • As of now 40 countries have signed and 11countries ratified the framework agreement of the ISA.
  • Once it is ratified by 15 countries, it will become a treaty based inter-governmental international organization.
  • Most of the member countries are who either fully or partially lay between Tropic of Capricorn and Tropic of Cancer.

Sagar Kavach a coastal security exercise has been conducted by Marine Police wing of the coastal Security Group in Chennai. The exercise is to test the defence preparedness of the security agencies in event of any terrorists infiltrating into the state through Sea.

About Sagar Kavach Exercise: 
  • It is a Coastal security exercise conducted by coastal Security group annually involving various security agencies to check coastal security mechanism and validate standard operating procedures.
  • During the exercise security personnel will be divided into 2 teams like Attack and Defence.
  • Attack team will act like terrorists and  try to infiltrate, the Defence team will try to neutralise the infiltration. 

2.Cabinet approves Revamped Khelo India Programme to boost sports in India. 
Union Cabinet has given its nod for Revamped Khelo India programme to boost sports in India. As per the programme, 1000 selected athletes will get scholarship of 5 lakhs per annuam for 8 years with the total cost of Rs 1,756 crore for the period 2017-18 to 2019-20.

This programme will help in development of sports in India including infrastructure development, identifying talents, coaching for excellence, competition structure, economy of sports and more. 

3.First ‘BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise- 2017’ 
India’s National Disaster Response Force to conduct First BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise- 2017 in Delhi. The aim of the exercise is to share the practices on  Disaster Risk Reduction , strengthening regional response and coordination for Disaster Management among member countries.

4.Indian Coast guard commissioned 2 high speed interceptor boats. 
Indian Coast Guard has commissioned 2 High speed interceptor C-433 and C434 boats at Dighi port in Mumbai, which help to boost the security on Maharashtra coastline  by preventing illicit activities like infiltration, smuggling, illegal fishing and more.

India will re-think joining the Hague child custody pact, which was signed by many countries. India has announced last year that it will not sign the convention and now it re-thinks its stand of joining and discussing the effects of joining the convention.

About Hague Abduction Convention: 
  • It is an International treaty on Child abduction and makes swift return of children wrongfully retained or removed from their habitual residence from one member country to another country.
  • The Main purpose of the convention is to protect children from wrongful international abduction by parents.
  • The convention is applicable for children under age 16 and 97 countries have been signed till now.

India’s Concern: 
  • Many Indian Women married to Indians settled in foreign countries and they were compelled to return India with their children after violence or conflict with their partners.
  • If India Ratify or signed The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (1980), which will make women to fly back to the foreign country for settlement of custody.
  • Also India should recognise the foreign judgment automatically irrespective of country’s own law on this issue.

1.DRDO- Indigenous Development of Trawl System

Defence Research and development Organisation(DRDO) has undertaken to develop a Trawl system that could help to locate the mines in the battlefield to meet the operational requirement of Indian Army.

The Trawl system will help to locate land mines and creating a vehicle safe lane through minefield for the advancing columns of mechanized forces in combat zone.

It consists of Trawl roller, track width mine plough and electro-magnetic devise , which could detect all types of mines usually encountered by the battle tank.

2.Astra Missile successfully completes its final Development Trials. 
Astra –Beyond Visual Range Air to Air Missile’s (BVRAAM) final development Flight trials were successfully conducted over Bay of Bengal, Odisha and met all its target .


3.PM ,dedicated Sardar Sarovar Dam to the nation, 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated Sardar Sarovar Dam built on the river Narmada to the Nations.

It will benefit the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. 

The project will help to transport the waters of Narmada to the water-deficient regions of Gujarat that will benefit nearly 10 Lakh farmers and drinking water to  more than 4 crore people

4.Celebration of 30th Anniversary of Montreal protocol and 23rd World Ozone Day 
16th September 2017 is celebrated as 23rd World Ozone day and also marked the 30 the anniversary of the Montreal protocol with the theme “Caring for all life under the Sun”.


5.INDO-USA Joint Exercise Yudh Abhyas – 2017
A Joint Military exercise between Indian and US Armies Yudh Abhyas – 2017 commenced at Joiont Base Lewis McChod, Washington USA.
